THE LOFT

Logo design, branding, merchandise design, graphic identity.

The goal of The Loft at Manor Mill project was to create a cohesive visual identity for a creative community space in Monkton, Maryland. The Loft hosts music events, workshops, and gatherings, and the branding needed to reflect both the historic character of the mill and the vibrant energy of its programming.

As the sole designer, I built on the Manor Mill’s existing color palette and typography to develop The Loft’s new branding, creating logos, graphic elements, and a flexible identity system for marketing and membership materials. One of the most rewarding parts of the project was translating the historic and warm aesthetic of the mill into a modern, versatile brand that stands out while feeling connected to its roots.

IN MAKING THE LOGO

The primary logo reflects the character of the space: it features the unique shape of the Loft building and a guitar to highlight its role as a music venue. The typography is blocky and textured, reminiscent of the metal scrap letters found on signs inside the Loft, giving the identity a handcrafted, industrial-meets-artistic feel.

This combination creates a visual identity that honors the mill’s history while capturing the energy and creativity of the space, providing a flexible and memorable brand for events, marketing, and community programming.
